Formed in January of 2001, Leave's motto has always been, 'pop without the cheese, rock without the stupid.' With an ever-growing catologue of original songs (over 20 as of this writing), Beatlesque vocal harmonies and rock-solid musicianship, Leave is quickly making a name for themselves both in their sweet home Chicago and throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Although Leave is a relatively new band, the four members of the group had no trouble patching together their diverse backgounds to form a cohesive signiature sound. The jangly guitars and vocal harmonies of principal songwriters Mike Murphy and Jim Latsis recall the bygone days of Simon & Garfunkel and the Byrds, but with a decidedly modern rock bent. The sophisticated yet powerful percussion provided by drummer Terry Keating prevents ANY show or recording from becoming a snoozer, while Joe Herrmann's melodic, motown-inspired basslines offer up many a tonal and rhythmic twist. The result is an overall sound that is both original and familliar, radio-friendly yet unique.
