L.V.X. Occvlta was formed from “Demensia Praecox”, a solo endevour of Michael Renfield while he was in the U.S. military stationed in Japan. It was a way to express his love for electronic music such as “Coil” and “The Legendary Pink Dots”. There were two demo tapes made of that material entitled “Sounds Of a Shattered Source’ Part one and two. This music is now impossible to find, but many of the finished songs appear on the 1997 cd “Repressing The Pride Of The Spirits”.
1996 was the year “L.V.X.” was born. Originally a collaboration effort between Michael Renfield and Marc Dean. The two long time friends had an idea that they thought would change the scene in Phoenix, AZ forever. So drawing from our love of experimental bands like Psychic T.V. and making a psuedo-religious environment centered around intense music and artistic imagery.
The name L.V.X. Occvlta was created because of it’s meaning “Hidden Light”, and how we feel that a message is being interpreted through the lyrics and ideas. A very Processean (T.O.P.Y.) message about humanity and spirituality and how they counter the worlds distorted views of them. Also the word L.V.X. was a term for a dance that Aliester Crowley used in his rituals…thus interpreted as “a hidden dance of light”. Simply meaning that salvation is within our reach and all we need do is recognize it and embrace it.
L.V.X. Occvlta has been playing live in Phoenix for about 4 years now with an amazing underground following. We have done shows in Los Angeles and Texas as well as opening for Velvet Acid Christ and Haujobb. Currently L.V.X. is in the studio recording what will be a compilation of all The past four years work.
