Three rugby players decided to get together and form a band known as 'drop 125' in early November 2003. Drop 125 was derived from the drop goal that won the world cup for england and 125 were the position numbers of the band members. This band worked on creating original music and prepared for an April 2004 debut. The drummer unfortunately was called back to the U.K. in Late February. 'drop 125' decided to book their debut and retirement gig in early February 2004. The venue was 'The Wanch', a Hong Kong establishment in Wan Chai. A crowd of 60+ people attended the event. 'drop 125' performed 5 original songs that night. After the show, an unknown drummer looking for an original band, over heard the news of the departure of the current drummer and offered his services.After a month break from playing the Guitar Player 'Jimmy Whitman', The Drummer 'Malcolm Johnston' and the Bass Player 'Andrew MacTaggart' united to form Lazyi. In May 2004 Lazyi was formed. In late May Lazyi was performing about 8 original pieces with more to come. Lazyi currently has over 30 original songs at various stages. In August 2004 Lazyi, added a fourth, acquiring the skills of guitarist 'Mark Espina'. We tried to move forward, but found that the original guitar player was holding the group back and thus was released in early November 2004. Lazyi is back to a three-piece band and working on preparing a demo in early January 2005. Lazyi has performed in the World Battle of the Bands 2004, The Wanch during Jam nights and recently Causeway Bay RFC Christmas Party.Lazyi hails from many countries, but all have found their home in Hong Kong. The drummer was born in Argentina, The Guitar player is from the Philippines, and The Bassist is from America. Lazyi music is original rock n roll with heavy influences of an assortment of bands. We at Lazyi like to say it is everyday rock, but others can not put a name to it as of yet.
