Formed in the fall of 2001, Killie McGee is currently celebrating their one year anniversary by finishing up recording a full length album. Although they have only played around twenty shows to date (and about as many open mics), they are amazed to find at this point of the band's life that crowds are singing along at their shows. They strive to write solid pop songs with infectious melodies and riffs, and so far it seems to be working. Compared to the likes of Nirvana, Buffalo Tom, Foo Fighters and The Lemonheads, you can start to see what you are in for.
'The thing that strikes me most about this song is the undeniable sense of fun that these guys are having. And if that's not what rock and roll is all about, I don't know what is.' - Godsofmusic.Com That enthusiasm of the music carries over to Killie's live shows, where just about anything can happen. Rather serenading the ladies with the off ballad 'Love to You', or having behemoth singer/guitarist Matt Stone demonstrate his catalog of generic rock postures, from the machine gun to the full out double knee bomb. 'I remember dropping to the ground so hard during the finale of one show that I could hardly walk for a week. Still, the crowd got its money's worth, so it was worth it.'
Killie McGee consists of three members, all invaluable to the dynamic of the band. Singer/Guitarist Matt Stone has been in numerous bands over the years, but with Killie, he's finally gotten the chance to take the songwriting ball and run with it. What is a good tune from Matt becomes a great tune from the band once drummer Phil Valenti and bassist Dan Garneau create a catchy rhythmic groove to accompany Matt's melodies. Dan and Phil have also played in bands with Matt over the last few years, although this is the first time pairing up the three. Given their past history, all three members are so familiar with each other that this band feels like second nature to them.
With an album on the horizon, and bigger and better shows in front of them, Killie McGee is anxious for the road that lies ahead. They are looking forward to getting out on the road to support their new album and doing what they do best, turn heads and make fans out of everyone in the club.
