Winners of best Rock song at the 2001 West Australian Music Industry Song Writing Competition and nominated for Best Rock Act in the 2001 Kiss My WAMI Awards. The winning song “Heard it on the Radio” has been extensively played by national & community radio. The band in its short history has accomplished much due to its depth of talent, professionalism and versatility. The members all come from diverse musical backgrounds. recent supports have included Nickelback, Killing Heidi, Regurgiator, The D4 and the Super Jesus to name buit a few.
The bands continual output can be attributed to the presence of three distinct song writers within its ranks Frankie G (Lead Vocal), Chris Gibbs (Guitar & BV), Steve Gibbs (Bass & BV)and a subsequent continual flow of new songs. Of course we can't forget the powerhouse drumming of Vinnie PC, not to mention his famous show-boating!!!
2002 saw Kingpin tour the UK where they received much attention from the press. They played at the first Fierce Festival in London which had a crowd of around 23,00 along with a string of other gigs around the country. On their return to Aussie the guys went straight back into the studio to record their second album 'Say Yeah' which was released in Australia on Nov 9th and is due for release in the UK early in 2003.
