Jonari
Band Biography

  • From: Outer Banks, NC
  • No. of Members: 2
  • Year Established: 2004

After over 5 months of being on the road, Jonari is ready for another season filled with all sorts of waves. In case you're just tuning in, Jonari is a duo consisting of Jon Christie (guitar, vocals) and Ariél Glassman (percussion, vocals). Bringing the inspiration of travel into our music has tightened our groove into a promising new sound. Taking a step back is something we try to tell ourselves to do, and this helps us both in and out of music. 'Shady Tree' was written in as laid back of a manner as it sounds. The tune developed eventually after spending hours of strumming and banging on coconuts on miles of beach stretch we encountered in Central America. The simplicity gives Ariél a chance to swing the percussion around the beat and Jon just can't get enough of his noodlin. He also gets a little rip in his solo to 'Just', a folksy beach tune with a poppy chorus. With lyrics inspired by listening to his tide clock waiting for Ariél to come home work, Jon wrote 'Just' in a mere thought caused by the feeling in his head colliding with the sun's setting rays. Putting these new tunes together gave us a chance to see that Jonari is coming out stronger than we thought this summer.
