This eclectic ensemble is a melting pot of influences, old and new schools and undiscovered talents that continue to unfold before us. Jive’s original sounds and raw acidic grooves are paving the future for a heightened musical experience.

The idea was born in Wallstreet, CO when Dave and Lance first got together with their guitars and played. They decided to join forces and make a run at the Boulder music scene. Projects came and went and it wasn’t until Chad brought the steady and funky sounds of the bass that the musical groove really set in. Greg added the stylish sounds of flute and tenor sax while Joel’s distinctive tenor and soprano sax added yet another layer to the music. The pocket was filled with the latest addition of Pat on drums.

Jive’s musical ambitions have taken the group to new levels in a short time. Since the group formed in August of ’99, they have had the honor of playing Boulder’s best venues and with incredible musicians like Karl Denson, ReBirth Brass Band and Dave Watts Motet. Some of Jive’s many influences include: Bob Marley, James Brown, Jerry Garcia, Grant Green, Stan Getz, Lee Scratch Perry, Santana, Reuben Wilson, Dexter Gordan, Led Zeppelin, Cannonball Adderley, Sly & Robbie, SRV and Coltrane.
