JIM JAMS is one of Slovenia's budding singer and songwriter. This talented artist was born in Murska Sobota, Slovenia (Europe), on October 24, 1977. His given name is Èrtomir. Èrtomir said you should just call him 'Jim Jams'. 'It is much easier' ; )
JIM JAMS first contact with a musical instrument (a guitar) was at age 6, but he had no interest in learning to play the guitar. JIM JAMS also took piano lessons at age 11 but this didn't last either. When JIM JAMS was in his second year of high school he earn some money. He used the money to purchase a 'correct guitar,' as Jim puts it. This time around the guitar and music became JIM JAMS' number one interest and passion. He feverishly practiced long and hard to master playing the guitar.
Currently, Slovenes teenagers and young adults have an eclectic taste in music. 'Like Americans, Slovenes are listening to Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna and Whitney Houston. When I was a young child, my parents used to listen to The Doors, Duran Duran, Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens and Bob Dylan,' explained Jim Jams. As it turns out, this early exposure to late 60's, 70's and early 80's music left an indelible mark on JIM JAMS' interest in rock-n-roll. The music Jim's creates is folksy easy-listening conscious rock. He is often compared to Bob Dylan. Jim is quite taken by this flattering comparison. But he will quickly point out to you that 'Jim Jam's music is Jim Jams music.'
When JIM JAMS was born in 1977, Slovenia was a republic of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia was then a communist nation that was very much a part of the Iron Curtain (even though it distanced itself from Moscow's rule). Slovenia gained independence from the Serbs majority rule in 1991. Quite naturally, as a young nation of two million people, Slovenia is going through its transitional stages. Inflation is high but there is ample work according to Jim Jams.
