According to Rand, “I spent a lot of my musical life searching and studying. I came from a long line of musicians. My grandfather was a first generation Rock n’ Roll guitarist and vocalist. My mother was a gospel singer. Basically everyone in my family pretty much plays or sings. I am a fourth generation musician. I was constantly exposed to an amazing amount of culture and music. This was instrumental in giving me a voice and understanding of sound and how it affects the soul.”

A true musical devotee, Rand spent most of his youth performing in every available outlet in his hometown of Raleigh, NC. Church and school choirs, Metal bands, Hip-Hop and R&B groups, Acid Jazz, Fusion, Punk and Reggae bands were all fair game. \

After studying composition and electronic music production in college, Rand immediately re-located to Atlanta where he wrote and performed with an eclectic mix of artists such as Dionne Farris (Columbia Records), Van Hunt (Capitol Records), Public Enemy, Joi (Universal Recording Group) and India Arie (Motown) among others. During this time he was employed as a regular on call session guitarist/bassist for multi-platinum production/engineering team MetaMusic (LaFace, Arista, Interscope), Don McCollister (Soup, Sister Hazel, Indigo Girls) and Avery Johnson (India Arie, Donnie, Bonecrusher).
