Jackson170 was formed in the fall of 1999. Mike Chini(guitar vox)and Clay Stiles(bass and vox)wanted to create a jazz and rocksteady influenced type of ska band. This all changed when metal guitarist Adrian Gilbert(lead) and hip hop drummer Greg Ransom(drums)stepped into the picture. They searched for that sweet sounding horn section for quite a while but finally found four permanent members: Dave Campbell(bari sax),Cat Brocalello(Tenor sax), Jeff Blomquist(alto sax) and Marc Hummel(trumpet).
In the summer of 2001 they recorded their debut album 'Live from the Basement' which did very well among the local New Jersey ska scene and also very well online as well. You can find them on homepages, Their very own webpage(www.jackson170.com), or you can find them at your favorite Mp3 download site.
In the days of 2002, many changes have taken over. Since then they have lost Mike,Adrian,Cat,and Greg in the line up. J170 had to go back to the drawing board and start over again. The current line up is Clay Stiles(bass/vocals/keyboard),Tom Leslie(Drums), Jeff Blomquist(Alto Sax) Dave Campbell(Bari Sax), Marc Hummel(trumpet) and Jason Sullivan(trumpet). They are currently recording a new album which is currently untitled and wishes to push the boundaries of ska, rock, and new wave! If you like diverse music check them out!
