Founded in 1990, by Jack Sanbower, The central Maryland based No Leeway Band incorporates a wide traditional repertoire and versatile musical program into their shows that reflects past and current musical styles, thus presenting traditional bluegrass music with a contemporary flair. The International Bluegrass Music Association's trade magazine says the band plays 'high energy, traditional bluegrass.'
Based around the banjo virtuoso stylings of Jack Sanbower, The No Leeway Band is an ensemble of professional bluegrass musicians featuring the talents of phenomenal mandolinist Scott Eager, award-winning lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Richard Sell, and bassist Carolyn Kellock who has performed and recorded with many national and regional musicians - most notably, Hazel Dickens, David Grisman, Vassar Clements, Bob Harris, and Ray Charles.
Jack Sanbower and The No Leeway Band are carrying the bluegrass music tradition to today's audience. Original material, great harmonies, and instrumentation rivaled by few is the band's hallmark.
