Who is Junior?
Three guys from a small East Texas town where the city limit sign reads, 'Welcome to Gladewater - Population: Just Good Folks'. Certainly an uncommon place to find a rock band. Kiley Bland, Steve Cox, and Jimmy Cash, friends since grade school, grew up with dreams and aspirations of forming a rock and roll band, making records, and touring the country. And the name, Junior? All three members were named after their fathers.
After four years together, Junior has arrived. Touring in support of their first full-length release entitled STARVING ARTISTS OF THE YEAR, the band combines hard driving guitars with harmonies and catchy titles like 'I Wanna Be A Rock Star' and 'Goodbye Romeo'. Junior has performed in fourteen states across the U.S. since 1998, when they released their first demo.
In June 2000 the band members approached producer Jaret Reddick of the band BOWLING FOR SOUP (JIVE RECORDS) about producing two songs for STARVING ARTISTS OF THE YEAR. After hearing the demo, Reddick agreed to produce not only those two songs, but the entire album. Reddick was impressed with songs like 'I Wanna Be A Rock Star' and 'Trailer Park Tango'. He was also intrigued by the originality of the band, and their unique southern appeal. Seven months later, STARVING ARTISTS OF THE YEAR is released on 21/10 Records.
Junior will be touring the U.S. in support of the new album starting in the spring / summer of 2001. For more information, check out the band's website at www.juniorrocks.com
