Welcome dear fiends to the new frontier in pop-dom. These tidbits are submitted for your approval... International Pop Overthrow first burst onto the scene in 1999. You could call it the brainchild of prolific songwriter Jason De'Main, however the band consists of an overlap of musicians from Loser, Us Of All, and Satellite Heroes. Being children of the 60's and 70's you could see the solid tie to their roots as well as a stark understanding of the modern rock movement. They have been described by one Los Angeles journalist as quoted: 'It's obvious The Beatles, Elliot Smith, Iggy Pop, and The Police have played a big part in I.P.O.'s sound. In their self acclaimed proto-pop demeanor and noted sense of casual melancholy, their hip style is only complemented by their Brit-rock approach .' Shifting times and the ever changing pop culture has molded these veterans over the many years of their careers into the fine tuned machine that is the I.P.O.
For those of you who don't know, 27 year old Jason De'Main hails from Encinitas, California. First transplanted to Portland, Oregon in 1998… now residing in Seattle, Washington. He's has co-starred in such acts as The Satellite Heroes, Love Divine, Arch Angel, Honey Ryder, Loser, M-Set, and Superjaded
Jason says,' As far as myself, I have been a huge fan of pop music in all states and forms. When I started playing at age 13… I was into The Beatles, Bowie, and The Cars as a kid, into Zeppelin to Metallica as a teen, Industrial and Alternative as a young adult, and now (still considering myself a young adult) I still love it all. However, I realize my true love lies in the pop territory”... so frontiers his new project: I.P.O. In the recent past Jason has had some ups and downs. The group Loser had some bad times and in a historically rock n roll cliché… came to screeching halt in March 2000. After a little reflection, Jason decided to try something else. Over his career he has back-catalogued over 100 songs and never recorded any original material. Jason says, “I never have been a strong vocalist but it seems I have a certain niche for writing. I figure I’ll take this time off and see what I can do with my own material. I have yet to find a final live lineup but I have some people in mind'.
