Formed in September 2005, the Innuendo sax quartet has gone on to play in some established London venues such as the well-known Bull's Head jazz bar and the Wathen Hall in South West London. They have also appeared at the Royal Academy of Music.
Coached as a quartet by accomplished professional saxophonist Katie Brown, the group formed in the first year of studies at St. Paul's School having had experience in playing in big bands and other jazz ensembles of varying sizes.
The quartet's repertoire includes pieces by Gershwin like the popular 'I Got Rhythm' and 'Summertime', as well as favourites like Hoagy Carmichael's 'Georgia', and upbeat party pieces including an arrangement of Henry Mancini's 'Pink Panther'. Slower tunes include the atmospheric 'La Cumparsita' and 'Sleepy Lagoon' by Eric Coates. The quartet's music combines older jazz standards with more contemporary pieces and strikes a balance between Jazz, Funk and Latin.
The Innuendo sax quartet are: Freddie Hosken (soprano sax), Alastair MacFarlane (alto sax), Alex Baillie Hitchcock (tenor sax) and Peter Teverson (baritone sax). Please visit www.innuendo-sax.tk for more information. Telephone: 07950973493. Email: innuendosax@hotmail.co.uk
