Looking toward their big, bright future, while embracing their extensive past, INDECISION releases The Great Road, their first studio album in 10 years. This collection of 11 original songs was refined at the Sound of Music studio in Richmond, Virginia, by producer/musician David Lowery (Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven, Sparklehorse). The tracks on the new album explore the metaphorical implications of a life well lived, full of love, loss and longing.
Somewhere in 1984, well before the explosion of what is now labeled as the “jam band” sound, emerged a band out of Charlottesville, Virginia named INDECISION. Drawing from a wide variety of influences such as The Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Santana and Little Feat on through to the more complex rhythmic and harmonic structure of countless jazz artists, INDECISION forged a unique sound and quickly became a frontrunner in this relatively new movement of improvisational jam bands. Don’t be fooled into limiting this band to a single category; it simply cannot be done.
Although disbanding as a full time touring act in 1993, the members of INDECISION have remained active in the music industry with other projects as well as continuing to play 15-20 shows a year to packed houses of old friends and new fans. The same intelligent songwriting that has been a signature of the band has not been left to stagnate. INDECISION continues to keep their music moving forward while remaining loyal to their roots and following. As they tour throughout 2005 in support of this album, combining their cauldron of sound with sheer improvisational spirit, the melding of the group’s intense performances will evolve nightly—just make sure you’re there to see it.
