(IN) is a band known for their off-key syncopated spontaneous style of punk/thrash music. The trio has a raw and untamed approach with self-taught melodic notes and powerful riffs. Originally from Taylor, Michigan, the band Sutcher Self. Andy and Carlos decided to experiment with a different sound, adding bass player James to their new project. (IN) has been playing clubs in the downriver area for the past few years. After many delays the band is finally in the studio putting together their first album.
Back when the grunge scene of seattle was peaking, four unusual and unlikely musicians were creating a different breed of music. Members, Andy Potoczek, Carlos Charles, Chris Teasle, and Dave WIlliams, gave birth to the band Sutcher Self. They Played in the darkest alleys of Detroit with venues including Blondies, I-Rock, The Marquee, and Tokken's Lounge. Later the band would dismember, Leaving Carlos, and Andy searching for a new base player and vocalist. They searched long and hard to no avail, and then right under their nose was old time friend and fan, James Grech. They worked relentlessly to produce their first demo as In Parenthesis. After a discouraging break up in 1998, the band went their seperate ways and began new projects. However, Shortly afterwards Andy, Carlos, and James realized that the pieces of this groundbreaking musical puzzle could not be complete outside of this trio. The origianl members of (IN), back together again and further defining their unique style.
(IN) has come from a background of many different types of music. Most influential type of music would be the sounds of old school punk, such bands as The Ramones, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, and The Dead Kennedys. On the other side of the spectrum the band (IN) are also influenced by the sound of the thrash, hard-hitting sounds of bands such as D.R.I. Cryptic Slaughter, and the infamous S.O.D. The individual members varying tastes in music come together to create their own individual music style.
The sounds of a freight train blasting through your living room for a short moment. leaving you with a furious rush of adreniline that ends too soon. The songs about everyday life contain a political undertone and portray messages that are hard to forget. Carlos Charles (guitar)-a prodigy of unorthodox guitar riffs and melodic notes set him aside from the world of guitarists.
