What is Illicit Sects? Listen as a seven string guitar merges intensely with a six string bass. The melodic chords wash over you; pulsing, twisting, igniting a slow burning fire in your veins. Your body responds instantly; blood pulsing faster, heart beating quicker. Then the drums burst in, hitting you with unrestrained strokes; rising swiftly to a double bass crescendo that pounds its way into you. By the time the voice hits you, smoothly and deeply, you’re begging for release. But it doesn’t end and soon you find yourself rising to meet an unspoken challenge. That is Illicit Sects. Illicit Sects was 'officially' founded in 2002, with the coming together of Troy 'The Neck' Teepen on drums, Tommy 'Hillbilly' Sterner on guitar, and John 'Special Ed' Wise on bass. In 2004 Statch Gulley joined the group to round out the sound and the madness. Each member has performed in other bands and on other instruments which adds to the overall flavor and musical fortitude of the band. To create Illicit Sects follow these simple instructions: Step 1 - Take equal parts Rock, Alternative, Classic, Metal and Pop. Step 2 - Place in blender, but leave lid off. Step 3 - Press liquify and enjoy the mess.
