First discovered by Jim Beam and sponsored by B.E.A.M. (Benefitting Emerging Artists in Music), Hyper Chyld quickly burst onto the scene with their debut CD, Flesh Burns Desire (released March 2000). By selling out of CDs at many of their shows, the boys proved that their charismatic, unconstrained, stage show was a force to be reckoned with. With MP3s uploaded to GarageBand.com, HC again reinforced their undeniable talent by capturing the #9 and #10 spots, world-wide, in the 'rock' genre, and claiming the #1 and #2 spots of all Baltimore bands. Their song, 'Rise Up' was voted 'Moodiest Track' by reviewers at GarageBand.com, and was selected to be the lead-in track to the Rabbid Rabbit Records compilation CD, Spitting Seeds Millennium Edition (released September 2001). Additionally, three of their songs,'Come To Life', 'Rise Up', and 'Blind' were honored as GarageBand.com's 'Tracksof The Day' (January 2001).
Hyper Chyld ventured to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where their explosive performance at the 5th Annual Millenium Music Conference (February 2001), brought rave reviewsin Pennsylvania Musician Magazine's 'Millennium Weekend' column and landed them - not one - but two 2-hour slots on Q94 FM, WBXQ's Backyard Rocker program, in Altoona, PA. With ten brand new songs in hand, Hyper Chyld hit the studio to record their follow-up CD, Perfect Head, with renowned 'Audio From Hell' Producer Frank Marchand. While recording, a columnist from Music Monthly stopped by to interview the band and printed an enormous article in the Special 200th Edition (May 2001). The new disk was released to a SOLD OUT crowd at Fletcher's Nightclub in Baltimore on September 28, 2001.
The most predominant characteristic of the band, as they consistently rise to mid-Atlantic success, is their remarkable ability to overcome enormous obstacles and achieve far-reaching goals. They've DONE what others have said they COULDN'T DO. This is attributable to their undeniable determination to be the biggest band out of Baltimore. Until recently, they had done all of this without label or management backing - that is, until their blistering performance at the Windjammer caught the eye of newly formed Harbour Music, who has now undertaken management and booking responsibilities for the band (January 2002).
Other bands are running scared - and with good reason. Hyper Chyld IS the breath of fresh air the music industry has been gasping for.
