  • No. of Members: 1
  • Year Established: 1998

Hug McKinney, a five time recording artist, currently leads his own band and solo career along with filling the lead vocal position with the nationally known oldies group, ' The Four Townsmen' which are represented by the Vocal group Hall of Fame and Museum in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Hug began singing at the age of five years old in the local churches of the Pittsburgh area. His first appearance was at the Broad Street Baptist church in Washington , PA where he sang the old favorite,' Do Lord, Remember Me'. Throughout his teenage years he sang and played the drums with his sisters performing at churches and local Malls until he was 18 yrs. old. Hug then attended Valley Forge Christian College in Pheonixville, Pa receiving a Bachelors degree. It was there that he originated his first 6 piece band, ' Daystar' a Christian contemporary band. Traveling for nearly 8 years, Hug McKinney and Daystar performed a variety of events ranging from youth rallies to college concerts. They even performed at the Syracuse War Memorial in New York to nearly 10,000 listeners.

After Daystar, Hug continued in a solo career until he was scouted out by Four Townsmen's Pete Koukalakis at his Aunt Rose McGary's wedding, where he was performing. Joining The Four Townsmen was a huge step in Hug's career of music. For nearly four months he and the Four Townsmen prepared for their debut concert at the Vocal group Hall of Fame and Museum in Sharon, PA, where they are represented amongst all of the greatest of vocal groups in history. The Four Townsmen, who have performed at such venues as the Hall of Fame, Three Rivers Stadium and the Bradley House, where reunited after nearly thirty years and continue to bring back the great sounds of the oldies. They , along with Hug , have recently produced two new CD's. the first ' The Four Townsmen-ReUnited' contains their original hits from the 60's, ' It wasn't that long before, Graduation is here' and ' Sometimes' and their second release , 'Just Cruisin'. The Four Townsmen perform on a monthly basis in and throughout the Pittsburgh area and continue to draw sold out crowds at their events.

Presently, Hug is expanding his musical career to include his own group which performs a variety of music ranging from original music to rhythm and blues and the oldies. His most recent work can be heard and purchased in CD form with his latest release, 'Pages of Love' a full length CD on the Phoenix Record label. Pages of Love is currently receiving airplay on WJPA 95.3 FM in Washington. It includes ' My Prayer' originally performed by the Platters and also has original compositions that all will love. Two of the original compositions were written by both, Hug and radio personality, Pete' I got the beat' Povich of WJPA 95.3 FM in Washington. Pete and Hug united their writing abilities and came up with the outstanding songs called ' This Kinda Romance ' and ' Save a Table and Two Chairs '. Both songs are predicted to be the favorites on the CD. Hug is currently scheduling events of his own and remains committed to the itinerary of The Four Townsmen. As always, he looks forward to performing and anticipates making your next event one to remember!
