The Hooker Street Band is a Boston/Providence based rock band with a creative and thoughtful take on the genre. Frontman/songwriter Josh Levine's knack for catchy, poppy melodies and lyrical sincerity has been turning heads since the band's inception in January 2004. Drawing from musical influences as far apart as Neil Young and Weezer, Levine takes fresh aim at the familiar topics of hopefulness during rough times, the consumer society, flirting, moving on.....oh yeah and love. The band's live set features vibrant dynamics driven by a spunky rhythm section, tasteful guitar work by Providence native George Leonard, lots of energy and fun, and on a good night their t-shirts are even color coordinated.
The Hooker Street Band is:
George Leonard - Lead guitar
Abbey Leroux - Drums, Ukulele, Vocals
Josh Levine - Rhythm guitar, Vocals
Josh Levine started writing songs in September of 2002 and hasn't yet been deterred. Singing since his vocal chords would resonate, and playing guitar since 1994, Josh is certainly someone to keep both eyes on.
Abbey Leroux learned the drums in January 2004 so she could serve as the solid base of The Hooker Street Band. As beautiful as she is tasteful, her drumming is perfect for the music and you'll never be let down by her next move.
George Leonard has been playing guitar since the seventh grade and its so obvious that he has become a master. Savor every note in every solo.
