Homestead- The First “Heavy Country” BandA long time ago when Jeff Kirby was just a little boy, his dad made him a home-madeguitar out of some old plywood, soaking it and bending it into shape. Jeff played thatguitar while his brother Joe followed along to records his dad played by great artists ofthe time such as Johnny Cash and Elvis. Little did they know that they would one day bea part of the new music generation in the exciting world of new cross-over country androck music.
By welding elements of their childhood and college years into a radiofriendly sound, the Kirby brothers formed Homestead (http://www.homesteadcountry.com) in the home base of Dallas Texas in early 2005.Homestead is composed of Jeff Kirby on bass guitar and vocals, Joe Kirby on lead guitar, and Chris Menard on drums. The band drives a new form of genre-hopping music withelements of the new Nashville country and the old LA rock n roll. The Homestead boysare all about giving a fun experience to their audience and having fun on stage. “We’rein an era where music can be dark and gloomy. Homestead wants to bring good, clean, fun music to the masses. If people aren’t smiling and feeling good when they leave aHomestead show, we’re not doing our job” quotes Homestead founder Jeff Kirby.
Whether the boys are singing about the life of a band on the road in “Little Things GoWrong” or childhood memories and the good times at “Lake Afton” back in Kansas, it’scertain that 2005 is the beginning of a big musical career for the Homestead threesomeand being that all three of the boys are over 6’ tall… you can be certain that “big” isexactly what Homestead is all about!
