Herb and Hanson have been dubbed the original Acoustic Duo of Destruction. Since their inception in 1998, they have been painstakingly writing new material and transforming old time tunes into their modern acoustic destructory style. Drawing inspiration from their favorite stage performers, Herb and Hanson leave everything on stage. Nothing is held back. And the result is an incredible live music experience with a suprisingly full sound coming from only these two talented musicians.
Herb and Hanson consists of 'Boxcar' Herb Manila and Michael 'Hobo' Hanson. Their style comes from listening, studying, seeing, playing and experimenting with music of all kinds. At any show, the duo will play bluegrass, folk, blues, and anything else they have picked up along the way.
Beginning in 2004, Herb and Hanson decided to make a go of it in the music business. With no preconceived notions of future greatness, the duo took to the road as much as possible and have been playing on any stage and for any establishment that will have them. Priding themselves in grassroots style promotion, Herb and Hanson deal with no representation and make all arrangements themselves. Trying their hardest to just play music, the duo holds onto the dream that people would want to hear what they have to offer, if only they were given an opportunity to.
As a new generation of acoustic musicians have blasted onto the music scene in recent years, Herb and Hanson feel a strong urge to continue the traditions of old time music, while at the same time making that music new again.
