Hellven was formed in 1996 by extraordinary drum talent Clifford Shorb and sarcastic guitarist Dutch Rosenberg. A host of lineup changes ensued over the next few years, and was solidified with the additions of Dave Terry on guitar in 2000, and Tony Occhilini on bass in 2001
The next year was good to Hellven, travelling to San Diego, Flagstaff, Prescott Valley and of course, many venues in their hometown of Phoenix. The band had the privelege of opening for major label acts such as Lynch Mob, Nevermore, Iced Earth, and Suffocation, and has played medium scale venues in Phoenix, such as Alice Cooperstown and the Bash on Ash.
Hellven's first CD release was 'Realm of the Lost Souls'[2001], a four song EP which clinched the band's heavy style, and published Hellven's live anthems 'Exalted' and 'Disgrace'. Hellven has been featured on 1100AM KFNX in Phoenix, as well as 'Local 98 Rock', on Phoenix's premier rock station: 98 KUPD. The band has also had their music reviewed in Berserker Magazine.
Hellven's upcoming full length CD, 'Born into Brutality', gives the listener a heavy edge and full aggression, while still maintaining an air of intelligence and listenability. It's 55 nonstop minutes of heavy metal, with raw tracks like 'Bias/Fear', 'Sins' and 'I.H.D. Wigs'.
