While there is experimentation and intellect involved, Humdrum --what ever the name may imply-- is not a team of scientist, nor are they out to bore the masses and turn the sky gray with uneventful notions. As a matter of fact...thier intention are anything but that.
Humdrum is comprised of five musicians from San Antonio, Texas, that have come to play music together out of natural friendship and love for rock music with a twist of fate. Vocalist, Arron Diaz and Guitarist, Jimmy Cox grew up and attended school together and started the band in the summer of 1997 as a trio with a friend on drums. Together they released two albums. 'Sevendown'( 2001) and 'Downward Falling' ( late 2002). Before the first show to promote thier second record, the current drummer decided to leave the band for personal reasons and the two originators were left scrambling to find the perfect lineup to promote their new album. They met fan turned Drummer, Aaron Dargel, ex-punk guitarist, Jesse Davila, and ex-metal Bassist, Leonard Bosquez. Within one month of the change they were ready to perform.
With that lineup, they toured south texas to promote 'Downward Falling' which contained the single 'Chained', which in July 2003 was ranked number five out of more than one-thousand bands on Garageband.com's hard rock contest worldwide. They received radio airplay from hometown station 99.5 KISS to stations in california such as KROQ 106.7, which attracted many listeners including musician Leor Dimant (a.k.a as DJ lethal) from the group Limp Bizkit. The group signed a demo deal with his label, Lethal Dose Records and spent thousands of dollars on legal advice just to have Mr. Dimant Pull the rug from them and tell them to head back to the drawing board. Broke with no money and no deal..all that Humdrum had was thier pride and love for creating music. So they decided to let the great 'Downward falling' era come to an end.
As artist swarm the rock realm, like Incubus, Sevendust, 311, Strung Out, Korn, and The Deftones to name a few, Humdrum has set out to create thier own interpretation of rock culture by stiring together thier diverse musical backgrounds which include punk, metal, and hard rock with life experience. 'Expect to hear a fresh, more mature, honest, and heart felt record this January' says Vocalist, Arron Diaz.October 2004
