HOE is a string band: no electric instruments, no drums or percussion. It plays acoustic music--not music that is 'unplugged'--they call it contemporary string band music: a sound forged from a blend of bluegrass, old-time and pop.
HOE is: LIAM BAILEY: vocals, fiddle, resophonic guitar, mandolin; STEVE COMBS: upright Bass; DICK NEAL: vocals, banjo, mandolin, dobro; CHRIS TESKEY: vocals, guitar
HOE respects the song; every note it plays is at the service of the song--and it plays no more or fewer notes than required. With HOE, the groove rules. HOE values tight ensemble playing and singing over flashy displays of virtuosity. But these guys can really play--they just chose not to show off!!
The eponymously titled first cd 'HOE' consists of 12 original compositions. On stage the band performs those along with new material written by band members. Hoe plays shows all over the New York Metropolitan area.
