Frontman and guitarist Ryan Halliburton has been working as a solo artist since 1996 traveling a circuit from Northern Maine to Greenville, South Carolina. Percussionist Eric Bauer studied with local drum legend Dick Demers for over ten years. His accentual playing comes from years of providing music for various theatrical productions. Bassist John Lawson has a B.A. in Music Performance from the Univ. of Louisville, and has worked in numerous musical settings from symphony orchestras to rock and bluegrass bands. John was performing in Maine for the summer, traveling from his native Kentucky when the three met. His unique style of upright bassistry has been a focal point for all who listen and enjoy the intricacy and delicacy of the music.
The Grumps have been steadily building a reputation and fan base in the U.S. and beyond from their homes in Southern Maine. They have played alongside artists such as The Brothers Creeggan(featuring Jim Creeggan of Bare Naked Ladies fame), Suzanne Tedesci, The Blue Umbrella's, Laurel Brauns, Rustic Overtones, Denny Breau, Sly-Chi, Bill Cameron & Relishgrüv among many others.The Grumps look forward to years of entertaining audiences far and wide.
