Ground Zero is best described as an Emo Modern Rock band with a healthy blend of calming acoustic, searing and raging electrics , heavy groovin bass lines, mind bending FX's and synths, all overshadowed by powerhouse vocals and lyrics of thought and conviction. We are an in-your-face worship band whose sole purpose is to drive you to the foot of the cross in worship...Ground Zero.
Ground Zero began in Sept of 2001 as a ministry to Far Hill's Baptist Church in Dayton, OH. There was a need for a worship band for a regularly scheduled youth service, and the members of Ground Zero took this need as the impetus to begin their ministry. From that beginning, Ground Zero's ministry has grown to include regular appearances at Wright State University's Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Apex Community Church, Dayton's Christian Coffee House: The Gathering Grounds, and events and concerts of all sizes in Ohio and its neighboring states.
Ground Zero's members consist of: The sandpaper and grit powerhouse vocals of Philio Wing, the southern Lead Guitar of Markus Acker, Steven Soltez throwing down the funk on the bass, Ian Hilt on driving Lead Guitar, the unbelievable stickmanship of Douggy Nelson, and Jeremy 'Lou' Mix as manager on pianernanner/FX.
Ground Zero sees it's future as open to God's leading. This coming year, Ground Zero is driving forward with a packed schedule for the region and recording time on the horizon. Intentions are to have debut recording out by June 2002, with the strong possibility of a summer 2002 tour.
