Gardenias is a Spanish rock band formed in Toronto. The lyrics of Gardenias are at times poetic and at others very simple anecdotes. The songs are melodious, ranging from very smooth ballads to very energetic rock 'n' roll.

Everything started in the summer of 2003 when Alejandro Pinilla asked his friend David Guerra to help him record a song, 'Dulcinea', he had written for his wife's birthday. After this, Alejandro tried to form an 80's cover band, but realized that he wanted to create original work. One day Alejandro bought a Cuban CD that contained recordings of Eliades Ochoa and Compay Segundo. The same day, David showed up with the Buena Vista Social club CD which he was just as enamoured with. The two CDs showcased the talents of remarkable Cuban musicians. The song that most struck a chord with Alejandro was 'Dos Gardenias'. These CDs were the inspiration and encouragement that David and Alejandro needed to combine their love of their Latin American culture and music into the band 'Gardenias'. When John Hamilton (Juanito Hamiltonio) joined the band the real fun began. After numerous temporary bass players the band has finally found what they were looking for in the talented Chepe... The fun continues!
