Within these walls, you will find the quiet reflection of melancholy, the peace of a soft snowfall, the joy of a spinning dance... Garden of Dreams creates music to evoke your fondest hopes, your secret fears - music to dance away your sorrows, or to revel in them. The music is flowing, changing - improvisational noise or rhythm combined with ambient soundscapes, as well as the occasional honest-to-goodness pop song.
Garden of Dreams builds on the passion of Gene Blalock, founder, vocalist, and guitarist, in creating new worlds of music and emotion. Each song a story unto itself, the music is a rich and complex product woven masterfully by the band's members, like a spell, bewitching the willing listener who gladly follows.
Formed almost a decade ago, Garden of Dreams first enthralled listeners with 'Music Without Hands,' a limited production release which sold out almost immediately. Shortly after, the band created 'The Seraphim's Desire,' a soundtrack to an independent film which has gone on to stand as a true work of beauty on its own. More recently, the band released 'Everything,' a long overdue recording of snazzy guitar licks that combine with pounding drumbeats to yield irresistible hooks and melody creating an altogether blissful release, as well as 'In Sight of Skies Turned Out,' a 'B-Sides' collection of re-mixes of tracks from 'Everything.'
Today, besides Gene, Garden has a core group of players, including a second guitarist (William), bassist (Michael), keyboardist (Reuben), and Drummer (Graham). Each a superb musician bringing a new interpretation to the band's sound, the result is rich, vibrant and full of the passion that results when outstanding musicians work together. Garden of Dreams exhibits a love for moody pop melodies, chorused 12-string guitars, deep melodic bass lines, soothing keyboards and reverb-drenched percussion. Caressing their melodies, the lyrics range from the hyper-romance of 'Glow' and 'Red Pink' to the heartbreak and emotional ruin of 'In the Shadows of a Ghost' and 'The Griffin.' At once epic yet playful, light yet rich and warm, Garden of Dreams is the vibrant and passionate result of the suburb artistry of each of the groups players crafting together a work which is greater than its parts.
