Frankpipe, the uncommon band with the uncommon name has been rocking fans across New England for over five years. Frankpipe began as an experimental group in the backwoods of the University of Connecticut campus. Soon the group was gigging throughout CT at venues such as the Jorgenson Theater, the Webster Theater, the Equator, Sully's Pub, and as the house band at Husky Blues. In RI, MA, and NY, Frankpipe took the stage as the official band for the Rhode Island School of Art and Design's hockey and basketball teams in Providence. Other venues include All Asia, The Kendall Cafe, Bailiss, the New England Conservatory of Music, T.T The Bear's Place, and the Triad [NY].
The current day Frankpipe consists of 7 members whose changing roles cover bass, drums, guitar, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, piano, and occasionally four part vocal harmonies. As conservatory trained muscians with backgrounds in classical, jazz, and klezmer musics, the members of the group intermingle styles and moods with humorous and sometimes bizarre vocal imagery that come together to form seamless compositions. Entertaining stage antics and bono-fide showmanship make live Frankpipe performances unforgetable, super pleasurable, joy rides.
