Music should make you move, and no one knows this better than Fink's Constant. This world music band is equally at home playing African influenced socas as well as deep reggae grooves. Although the sounds are eclectic, every rhythm makes you want to dance. As one fan put it, 'It's impossible to sit still at these shows!'
Rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist Mike Fox's originals are poignant and infectious. Add to these the solid low-end rhythm pairing of Mike Egge on drums and Jamie Aston on bass, and the grooves alone could knock you off your feet. Mix in a little of lead guitarist Frank Devans's magic and you have the central core of Fink's Constant. Top all of this off with one of Southeastern PA's hottest horn sections consisting of Don Wood on Trombone and keyboards, Chad McCartney on Trumpet and Matt Pavelko on Saxophone, and you have a band that can turn any show into a party.
Years of stage and studio experience turn this seven piece band into a musical powerhouse. Each musician's love of music in general and the world music genre in particular is evident as they play a mix of originals and covers by such musical greats as Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, Smokey Robinson and a host of others.
Even though Fink's Constant is currently working on producing their debut CD showcasing their originals, it is important to note that they aren't shooting for super-stardom just yet. In the words of Mike Fox, 'we just want to have fun, adn we want the fans to have fun too!' With an outlook like that, it isn't hard to see why Fink's Constant is quickly becoming a local favorite and a band to watch.
