Folkswaggin' has been a favorite North Carolina Jam oriented band since 1995. The band has developed and changed many times since its inception. Folkswaggin' has flirted with Graetful Dead laced exploration, funk, West African drumming, Bluegrass, Newgrass, Reggae, fusion, rock and its own brand of unique genre busting original music. From their 1997 release Psychefolkadelic FW received strong reviews. The music is always changing as these guys refuse to musically stand still - Folkswaggin' is a group of serious players doing what they do best. Here is a current biography of the quartet. Founding member David McCracken has served a number of roles in the band starting out as the percussion maestro, dabbling with guitar, adding the keyboards to that and eventually dropping the percussion to pursue his current obsession and critically praised ability on the Hammond B3 organ. David can also be seen and heard sitting in with a myriad of other artists - Hobex, Allison King Band, Snuzz, The Allstars, Tim Betts, etc. His trusty Hammond B3 never leaves his side.
Shane Lee joined the band in 1997 to fill the vocal and lead 'eclectric' guitar slots. Known for dabbling with a mandolin on occasion with the rarely seen Folkswaggin' String Band, Shane brings a bluegrass influence to the funkified jams. Steve Clark is the foundation on which this band funkily stands. An accomplished bassist with a number of successful musical projects to his credit, Steve skillfully drives the improvisational and jam oriented space of the Folkswaggin' sound. Louis Bryant is the most recent addition to Folkswaggin'. Fresh from Reggae fueled Bag of Nickels, Louis' drumming brings yet another strong influence to the band.Together these guys keep finding their true musical magic.
