Fathom was officially born on St. Patrick's Day 2001 in Bohemia, NY at the legendary Lizard Lounge. Before that date, they were a loose knit band of friends just jamming together. Adding the Celtic weavings of John Farrell on Mandolin and Fiddle changed the course of the band forever. John DiBartolo, originally a bass player in Blue Abyss with drummer Gary Tourigny, is now taking the front as lead singer and acoustic player. Erich brought his 15 basses, solid picking style, and strong desire to leave his day job. Mike Clemente recently came on board adding his classical guitar training to the arsenal. Fathom's songs and sound explore landscapes of Celtic myth breathed through modern and traditional instruments. Their newly self-released debut CD 'Available Light' mixes the elements of modern rock guitar and drums with the traditional Celtic sound of mandolin and fiddle for a truly unique sound. Poetic lyrics range through weighty spiritual topics to basic themes of lost love. This 7 song CD is the culmination of Fathom's first 6 months together.
Fathom has shared the stage with notable groups such as The Prodigals, Black 47, The Wolfe Tones, and The Saw Doctors. Recent venues performed at in 2002 include The Pepsi Arena in Albany, NY; Brookhaven Amphitheatre in Selden, NY; The Patchogue Theater in Patchogue, NY and various clubs, resorts, and concert halls throughout the tri-state area.
