In a music environment that is full of bands that mimic each other FNA breeds a fresh new departure in what is often lacking today, 'originality'. Hailing from the town of Newmarket and the GTA, FNA brings with them a truly flexible sound to the music industry through the combination of many musical styles and elements. FNA uses a compelling 3-part vocal harmony under the lead voice of Shawn Kirpatrick; a voice that ranges from soft melodies to gut-wrenching screams. The lead guitarist / backup vocalist, Greg Keyes, brings an intense knowledge of musical theory and skill to the band; evident not only in his complex guitar lines but his new and creative use of effects and a guitar synthesizer, adding diverse industrial elements to the sound. This strong lead is complimented and built upon by the rhythm guitarist / back up vocalist Nik Bojovic, who adds more to the creative process with his innovative ideas & experience, and astonishingly powerful voice. Beneath it all is the rhythm section including Mike Thomas on drum and Mark Davidson on bass guitar. Mike’s drum lines draw on the influences of many musical styles; including Jazz, Metal, and Jungle. Though his beats are intricate, the drummer provides almost inconceivably heavy and straightforward groove that drives FNA’s sound full speed ahead. The bassist, through the use of a 5 string bass guitar, serves to effectively connect the precision and difficulty demanded by the guitar lines with the power and punch demanded by the drum lines. All in all, this 5-piece band has evolved a sound that appeals to nearly all audiences despite its subtle complexities. The result is a sound that is undeniably heavy, unexpectedly melodic, and inconceivably new. FNA!
