Eyris was completed as a progressive rock band in September of 2004 when bassist/touch guitarist Cody Fowler joined with drummer Matthew Lynch and guitarist Johnny Davis, a pair that have been writing and performing together in several different bands since 1999. The trio wrote and recorded in several studios for the next year from which the Eyris self titled seven track demo CD was produced in 2005, featuring all original songs.
Eyris (pronounced like ‘iris’) was formed in September of 2004 in Warner Robins, Georgia. This progressive rock band’s sound is comparable to a mix of Tool, A Perfect Circle, King Crimson, and The Mars Volta. The band is comprised of three members: Johnny Davis (guitar) age 19, Matthew Lynch (percussion) age 19, and Cody Fowler (bass/touch guitar) age 20.
The band has won first place at the DJ’s Galaxy Quest battle of the bands two years in row, performed in the Kiwanis Talent show two years in a row, played for Milledgeville College and State University in Georgia for a crowd of over 1500 people, performed multiple shows for Georgia Tech University, and competed in the Hawkinsville battle of the bands two years in a row. The band received second place in the Club South Beach Battle of the bands, beating out 23 other bands from the Macon/Atlanta area. Eyris t-shirts with original artwork are sold by the band, as well as the full length album, recorded at Heritage Recording Studios over the period of three months. Their music has been played on Q106.3’s “Home Grown” program and they have had radio play on KrushRadio.com as well as an interview broadcasted. www.myspace.com/eyris www.eyris.org
