Eli started in August of 2001 as a garage band looking to play good music and have a good time. They loved experimenting with different styles of music as they all came from different musical backgrounds.
Jason, the lead singer and guitarist started off playing in the styles of Joe Walsh, Neal Young and Stone Gossard. Dan, backup singer and guitarist loved playing Phish, The Who and Yes. Hiram, bass guitarist started playing Sublime, Chili Peppers and Weezer. Chris, the drummer, was a guitarist in a heavy metal band but started playing drums after listening to Charles Keen (Bloodlet), Neal Peart (Rush) and Jean-Paul Gaster (Clutch).
They started getting serious in the summer of 2002 and decided to venture out of the garage to local bars and taverns. Their goal is to play to a crowd they most identify with, and while they have little dreams of changing the world with their music, they do wish to leave the people feeling good and humming their tunes after a show.
As they come from so many different styles of music, theirs is a band you have to hear to truly understand. Their energy and charisma can be felt throughout the crowd. Starting a set with a Marvin Gaye cover and ending with a cover of Three Dog Night, they love to leave people guessing. They challenge anyone to put them in a musical box. This is one band to experience.
