Dying for a Dream started a little over a year ago as just a tickle in mother's tummy, but now we are evolving into a full-grown fetus! Since our first show last summer we have developed a very considerable fan base that hasn't missed a show during our travels through our home town of Murrysville Pa, and now into the big city of Pittsburgh. We are quickly starting to spread our musical influences to more fans at each new show. We feel that if one more person hears our music then the last time we've achieved our goal.
We consist of Brad Martinez (vocals), Charlie Russell (lead guitar/back-up vocals), Sean McCormick (drums), Matt Klink (guitar), and Eric Graham (bass). We are all 17 years old and juniors in high school. We are slowly emerging on to the chaotic music scene of 3-chord punk and commercialized pop music as a break from the norm. We play songs that are structured with moments of dissodence highlighted by harmonized chords and melodies. Mix this with a very talented singer and an absolutely insane drummer, and you have the recipe for a mind-numbing experience; not to mention an amazing stage show.
This year has been an awesome experience for all the members of the band. We've played with bands from New York City and other National bands, and they ended up opening for us! The band from the small town of Murrysville Pennsylvania. When the first song of our set starts, everybody that is sitting down or carrying on a conversation are immediately drawn as close to the stage as possible, and we feed off of our crowd's intensity and overall support for our music.
The band is currently working on new material in the basement of former U.S.Congressman Ron Klink. We are proud of our new songs and can't wait to unveil a couple of them on April 13th at Club Laga in Pittsburgh. We will be competing in the Rock-Off (battle of the bands)sponsored by Guitar Center and Joker Productions. We hope that our powerful sound and talent for music will give us the edge we need to come out on top in front of a crowd of 1000+. These are interesting times and a turning point for our band, Dying for a Dream.
