'You are grossly mistaken' starts out the pummeling rocker 'When It Comes' off of Drughoney's new CD 'Fireflies'. If you think this is the same music you hear on the radio daily...then you're in for a suprise. Loud, fast, soft, crashes, things being thrown against the wall. This is what Drughoney sounds like. The band has built a strong following since it's inception three years ago. They've released a CD every year since, They've played many shows locally and regionally and once you've seen them live you won't forget them. Highlights include opening up for L7, the Reverend Horton Heat, Deftones, Soak, Drain STH, and Marcy Playground. Always the most evident thing that their shows is the energy. 'We hit each other all the time', says Jaime. 'Yeah', says Jason, 'but i don't usually feel it till after the show.' It seems Drughoney has a lot to say lately. Their new CD 'Fireflies' contains 12 new tracks and they all their own little story behind them. 'Del Rio' is about Jaime, David and Jason's hometown flooding on August 24, 1998. 'It was the day before my birthday and I couldn't find my parents', says Jaime, 'i didn't know they were ok till almost midnight.' When you hear the song you can feel their pain. Their hometown in ruins...friends dead.' 'Harlot' is a song everyone seems to listen to when we play it live,' says Jaime, ' it's about the bad girl you can't help but falling in love with.' 'Jinx' is about thanking God you're alive after a near death experience. The closing song on the album is the haunting ballad 'Evergreen'. When you ask them about that song their smiles fade a little. 'It's about losing everything and having noone else to blame for it but yourself.' Drughoney has never been so personal. It's not always pretty but it's real. So listen with an open mind. The ride will be that much better.
