Formed in 2001, Dollar Book Floyd set out to spread their brand of avant-garde Americana to the tri-state area.
The song-writing is influenced by a multitude of things; from classic jazz, to country, blues, grunge, classical, reggae, and campfire folk. The intrigue is in the instrumentation. Amy Lott provides the color to this picture with her versatility - playing the piano, clarinet, flute, accordion, and harmonica. Tim Keith brings a tasteful, powerful drumming style that could only come from his years of experience and success. Steven Wolfe delivers the words and graveled voice as well as irreverent, quirky guitar stylizing. Mike Stokes cleans up with the upright bass and his own trade mark punk-rock conservatism.
The performances are energetic and theatrical, including something for everyone. The up-right bass and ever-changing instrumentation transform familiar cover songs into music that is new and exciting, yet familiar. Dollar Book Floyd is enjoyed among all walks of life and all age groups, being that each original song touches on a different genre of music.
