DirtyMac
Band Biography

  • From: Northampton, England
  • No. of Members: 4
  • Year Established: 2003

DirtyMac was Formed in 2003 and our music was well sumarised by Chromium Records as follows: “We feel that your material is of a very high standard we were awoken when we listened to your demo submission because you inject so much energy and power into your songs. The lead singer is brilliant - what a voice! And that is what sold us to DirtyMac. You have an 'Edge' to you and this is what the Music Industry is looking for.”

DirtyMac was formed in early 2003 when Shane met Kev at the Romany jam sessions. Kev was an up and coming guitarist with a history of playing with a number of rock/blues bands and Shane was keen singer very much into political rap. Conversations between the two showed a similar line of thought with regards to the “system”. They needed a bassist and drummer to form what was to become DirtyMac. Kev’s brother John, also with a background in local bands was an accomplished bass guitarist and was willing to join. With only the drummer missing, the three searched high and low for a like-minded person; Shane’s brother Marc had no experience of drums, but within a year of learning with professional drummer, Dave Holland (ex-Judas Priest) Marc was more than ready.

After a year of local gigs, playing cover tracks from their musical inspirations, DirtyMac had matured and began to gain direction for the material that they would come to write. However, as they gained more insight into what they were to become, John the bassist, decided to leave because of musical differences. Jason, another jam session regular, watched DirtyMac and was so amazed by the band that he was more than willing to join. Since the inclusion of Jason the band has gone from strength to strength and the music is sounding better than ever. DirtyMac decided to stage a charity concert, named Rock Aid inspired by Sir Bob Geldof and his charity work. With connections in the local music scene, the top local bands came together to stage a 12 hour music festival in aid of the victims of the Boxing Day Tsunami. The hugely successful event led to a second and bigger concert with DirtyMac headlining with over 20 bands raising money in aid of the West African Crisis, staged at Northampton’s leading music venue (the Roadmender) which has played host to the likes of Coldplay, Robert Plant to name but a few.

The debut single “The Pacifist” (A powerful, yet moving insight into the image of war through the eyes of a pacifist) was released in July, 2005 and has received excellent reviews from within the music industry.
