Melodic hard rock band, Dendura, came together in February of 2004. Initially, the sound was more of a darkwave/industrial rock, but quickly turned into a dark melodic/atmospheric, yet driving hard rock once the band's full five-piece configuration of vocal/bass/guitar/keyboards/drums was solidified. Gathering sounds and influences from Eastern forms of music, Dendura aims to create songs that have depth and flavor from cultures other than its own, while drawing from the more progressive and technical side of hard rock and metal. Though the group has had some success thusfar, it hasn't come without major setbacks and obstacles. Going through a major lineup change (keys and drums) and having recorded at a prior studio, losing all their recorded music, the Dendura camp have endured some heartache and loss. Soldiering on through, founding band members Steve Wethy, Amy Poggi and Mike Fatzinger hired on a session drummer/producer for their 2 song demo/sampler Mummified and postponed recording their full length debut album which was originally slated to be released in the summer of 2005. March-April 2005 signaled a new era for Dendura, with the addition of Jeremy Hyde on drums and Traci Blackburn on keyboards. Both new members add backing and contrapuntal vocals, which brings an entirely new dimension to the table. Since then, the new lineup has been dilligently practicing and as a result, new songs that take Dendura to the next stage of their evolution have been written. One of the new batch, 'Symphony', is included on their newly recorded three-song EP/maxi-single I Have A Gun which is due to be officially released on Friday, July 29th 2005. The band have also seen increased exposure due to their music being included on the soundtracks of three independent motion pictures: Broken (in which, lead singer Amy Poggi flexes her acting talents as the female lead, Beth!), Buck Moon and Bed & Breakfast. They also are currently under consideration for their music to appear in two feature films. Dendura appears to have a rather bright future and looks forward to bringing its unique blend of melodic theatrical progressive hard rock as far as humanly possible!
