And they said melodic rock was faltering. With a sudden resurgence of NYC's underground rock scene, hipsters, rockers and quality music afficionados are at their wits end. Bands that stand out are few and far between and unique songs are an even rarer commodity. Have no fear because Delano Grove (FORMERLY The Stereotypes of NY) have finally landed. With a unique fusion of throw-back melodic rock/punk and truly innovative song structure, that includes intricately woven melody, raucous guitar riffs, and harmony lines that have both the hooks as well as the complexity and integrity of quality songs, Delano Grove are quickly becoming one of most sought-after rock acts today.
Delano Grove are on the soundtrack for 'Strangers with Candy: The Movie', starring Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, Amy Sedaris, and Stephen Colbert, with a rockin` tune called 'ATOMiC CAR'. The movie will be played at the Sundance Film festival in Utah, JAN. 24th and will be coming soon to a theater near you.
You’ll be wondering why you are feeling these intense feelings for rock and roll band? Well I will tell you this is no simple rock and roll band. Delano Grove's rock is the type of music that only comes from the comfort and synchronicity of a band that has been rocking together since childhood. The members of Delano Grove have known each other since childhood, and a lifetime of creative partnership has brought us music that sounds like an old friend. But not a pansy ass old friend that just sits around in the rocking chair making tea and reading, always buying you self help books or something. No sir. This old friend is the type of old friend that blows your friggin mind! Every riff bringing you closer to both ecstasy and insanity, so far that you even question your own existence.
LUKE LAPPIN, guitarist and singer, was taught how to play music by his father Bruce, who served as lead singer in his own band back in the 70’s. Influenced by his father’s work, and such bands such as the Beatles, Oasis, and Radiohead, Luke started playing guitar and writing songs at age 15, and never looked back. Now at 24, Luke is a computer programmer, but when not talking to machines, Luke spends his time writing more songs to add to the Stereotypes already sizeable catalogue, and plots their inevitable rock and roll coup d’etat. His cousin MORGAN LAPPIN, drummer, recently joined the band, bringing a family theme and his amazing drum skills to the Stereotypes. Morgan first played drums using Lincoln Logs and a KFC bucket when he was but a boy, and now is one with the drum, so much so that he often finds himself slapping his own skull when away from his kit, to realize the constant music that goes on in his brain. MIKE STOCK vocals / keyboards, a chemist by day, is the “troubled genius” stereotype. Backstage, before or after a gig, one might find Mike randomly practicing advanced calculus, or unexpectedly ingesting large amounts of adulterants, to silence the voices in his head. With his extensive, musical training, large catalog of original songs, and angelic vocals, Mike is another invaluable member of the band. Then there is ED PASQUALE, bass, whose addictive bass lines are only matched by his coolness under pressure of any kind . In watching Ed effortlessly jam on the bass, one might imagine attempting to distract his cool by shooting him full of heroin, while whipping him with reeds, and holding a gun to his head, only to find Ed, cool and chill as ever, ripping even better bass lines. Ed finds his greatest influence in jam bands such as the Grateful Dead, but in listening to him play, it is clear he has gathered influences from all over the musical spectrum.
