The Deep Fried Pickle Project can best be Described as a jug-a-billy jamgrass band. Incorporating The washtub bass, Kazoos, saws, and beer trombones in to their shows which setlists feature original newgrass material. The Pickle Project began in 2000 as a jug band but have matured in to one of the most talked about acts on the jam circuit today.
The Deep Fried Pickle Project consists of Jerry Hoffman on lead guitar and vocals, Alan Selvidge on Rythum guitar, mandolin and vocals, Daniel Daniel on Washtub Bass, Saw, Kazoo, Beer Trombone, and vocals, and Jim Mcallister on drums.These musicians come up with a sound that can really only be described as the Deep Fried Pickle Project.
The Pickle Project has played all over the country with stops including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, The Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash, and The Recipe Cookout. They have shared the bill with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, George Clinton, The Recipe, Yonder Mountain String band and many others.
