Dead Red Black was formed in early 2006 by John Wozniak, the band's lead singer and guitar player. Formerly of 'THROTTLE' and 'FIGHT THE SKY', John moved from California to Las Vegas, Nevada and began an immediate search for bandmembers to perform and record ALL new material written by John himself. His first task was to find a bass player to replace his lifelong bandmate and friend whom he had moved away from in California. John's search for the right bass player proved to be more of a challenge than he expected. He auditioned over 20 musicians but enlisted the services of none of them for various reasons. Fortunately, later that year John's former bass player, Mike Steringer, also moved to Las Vegas from California and began working with John once more. Together, they began their search for a drummer. Again, they auditioned numerous drummers but for one reason or another nothing materialized. Soon after those auditions John realized that the drummer he was searching for was actually here in Las Vegas 'right under his nose' the entire time but the drummer had long since 'retired'. The drummer was his dad! Chester Wozniak. Chester played the West Coast circuit with various metal bands in the 80's and did alot of recording with studio guitarist Jay Mason. John knew he was 'perfect' for this band and John finally convinced his dad to join the band, which he did in late 2006. Dead Red Black was born.

The result of these three playing, performing and recording together is unique to say the least. Each has their own, very different, musical influence on the final product that Dead Red Black produces. John's ability on guitar and talent to infuse the 'right lyrics' into the 'right melody' is uncanny. Mike's 'keen ear' for sound and balance during live performances and recording sessions is amazing. His bass lines are the adhesive between Chester and John. Chester's 'hard-hit' approach to drums drives the music into the direction that all 3 musicians want to go.

The fans of Dead Red Black are intrigued by the fact that John and Mike are lifelong friends and that Chester is John's dad. That in itself makes Dead Red Black unique. What makes them a unique musical 'family' is what Dead Red Black presents to the anemic world of rock music. They have injected the dying body of rock and roll with a life-giving dose of true, American rock syrum!
