Deligah A. Grier (Producer, Writer, Poet, Arranger, Composer, Artist, Engineer and CEO) Born: January 23, 1974Columbus, Ga.

Deligah A. Grier grew up in a house filled with women and one man who abused his mom whenever he felt he was under too much pressure. His mother, Judice Grier was a strong-minded woman trying to raise a man in a society that continued to lock them away in prisons. DeLigaH was born on January 23, 1974 in Columbus, Ga, while his mother was pregnant with him; she dived into the local pool to save her drowning niece. Raising a son in what seemed not to be the best environment, she tried to protect him. Living in a three-bedroom house on the bank of the Chattahoochee River, which itself was the center of the history of Columbus, Ga. She struggled to keep from loosing a child to the one danger that had taken the life of one DeLigaHs’ childhood friends. From childhood everyone nicknamed him “Main the shitty shorty”, which was given after as an infant he gave his stepfather a face full of the number 2. Being an only son DeLigaH was very curious and allowed nothing to stop him. When DeLigaH was 4 years old, he witnessed his stepfather beating his mom. In an effort to protect her, he went and got a hammer and threatened his stepfathers’ life. Shortly after, his stepfather walked out on his mom never to return.

With his stepfather out of the house, the family experienced hard times. Shortly after, his family continued to move place to place staying with other family members in between moves. “I remember going to sleep dreaming of the day when I could give my mom the world”. As time went on the issue of not knowing his biological father overwhelmed him.” I remember after every time I did something bad my mom telling me, I going to send your ass to Alto. For years, I thought this was my real fathers’ name. Only at the age of six I said, “Okay send me to my daddy then”. My mother began to laugh and said, “Boy Alto isn’t your dad it’s a prison”. It is still a prison and he still does not know his father. Not knowing his bio-father began to where on him. DeLigaH began to get into more trouble. Stealing cars, bikes, petty theft and hanging out with the wrong crowd. “I remember going with a group of my friends to steal a car. Man I was so hyped, I jumped in the front seat. Then there we were joy riding through the neighborhood and who did we ride by, my mom and my stepfather. That was the last time I stole a car. I was 12 years old”. Around 1986 his mom met a young man just out of the service who later moved the family to Atlanta, Ga with promises of a better life. “Moving to big city was scary, and as a young man I knew I would have to fight to fit in.” We arrived in Atlanta full of hope that would later be shattered. In the beginning staying in the best hotels, hoping for better. Then less than great hotels, praying for something better then the world-renowned Franciscan Hotel.“All night long you could hear women screaming, people arguing, cries for help, and a few gun shots. When I think back on it, it plays like a movie”. On their first night at the Franciscan Hotel his stepfather went to a local bar to gamble and try to win some money to feed the family and take them somewhere better to stay. “I remember my step-father telling me what happened. He says he was rolling seven and 11 all night with everyone circled around him in shock. He said he had made $300 and knew he should have left but he didn’t. He rolled on ending up winning over $500. When he was ready to leave he asked the bartender to call him a cab, but he would not. Once he got the nerve up to leave he was robbed in an alley, badly beaten, and left for dead with no money. I saw him in the hospital two days later”. With no money and nowhere to go, they found themselves sleeping in Central Park now known as Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta. “I remember being cold huddled under my mom for warmth.”

His mother found some assistance and got emergency food stamps but nowhere to live. They later moved into a shelter. After months on the streets in and out of shelters, they found help through the Atlanta Union Mission. “I remember standing out in front of what was then Woolworth on Peachtree Street begging for money to get some food with this woman who was wheelchair bound”. Once living in the Mission and out of the cold his mother enrolled him and his sisters in Dunbar Elementary School in the heart of Mechanicsville. That is when he discovered the poetry of Paul L. Dunbar, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, and Gwendolyn Brooks to name a few. “I recall reading poetry and thinking man if I could only write my feelings out this way”.Therefore, he did! After living at the Atlanta Union Mission for months, they moved into an apartment on the same street. Still on the low-income scale, his family was never financially well of. “I remember getting a shopping cart going around the neighborhood picking up cans and taking them to the recycling plant for money”.Later moving to Jonesboro North projects in Zone 3 of Atlanta, at age 14, he got into rap; he started writing lyrics and using his creative sense of life for all it was worth. His friends in his neighborhood didn’t know much about rap in Atlanta except for N.W.A, J.J. Fad, and Run D.M.C. Therefore, to them he was just a fake. After months of watching videos and purposely listening to rap music, he discovered strength. “I remember some guy asking me if I could freestyle, I was like ,WHAT? He explained that was rapping off the top of your head. I answered no. Then he demonstrated rapping about things him and I were seeing at that moment. This impressed me and upped my game as an M.C. Since then record deals have been at DeLigaH’ door on plenty occasions, and he signed with two independent record companies. Working with producers like DJ Taz, DJ Swift, Corey and others at Master 2 Master Recording back in their day gave him the basics for making beats. It was after years of rhyming over other producer tracks and not getting that heart felt result he wanted that….The Saga Began. M.I.H. Entertainment started in a one-bedroom apartment in SW Atlanta, Ga. in 1997. One man and one mission, 'To make an impact on the hip-hop nation'. After producing, the first song entitled 'What Are U Down For' for the first artist, 'God's Dogg', M.I.H. ENT made its presence known to the online music industry. With websites like Mp3.com, IUMA.com and Rapstation.com at an independent labels disposal, M.I.H. ENT found an audience for the sometimes edge driven style of hip-hop. Over the years, the music business has changed and MIH has changed with it. Due to seemingly hundreds of independent labels and production companies on the rise, the conventional artist record deal is obsolete. As Deligah Grier helmed production, M.I.H. ENT was able to create a street buzz in the late 90’s. With some radio stations, supporting indie labels MIH was able to have a song from one of its groups played on what was at the time Hot 97.5’s ‘Dig it or Diss it’. The song entitled “I Told U” by the Make It Happen Mob became part of the street approval MIH needed to show that musically it was on the right path. Over the years, being an independent label of any sort has proven to be a profitable venture. Though many labels have vanished, MIH has not tied its self into one genre of music. Rock, R&B, Gospel and Spoken Word are just a few of the areas in the entertainment business that it has made and will continue to make an impact in. MIH Entertainment as a company is prepared to push the envelope. Evolve into a premier indie label. Find the void in music, and shooting to fill it. This drive alone has MIH in line for the music industry of tomorrow. Born in Columbus, Ga and raised in Atlanta, Ga there was something about music that seemed to have a hold on DeLigaH. It may come from hearing stories of a father he never knew; and how he seemed to be a music man himself. Whatever it was it began early. DeLigaH started rapping when he was 14 years of age. After running away from home and skipping school as much as possible, his lyrical and poetic side came to life. Once returning home he found it was time to become a man and became a product of the streets. These experiences heard in the music, which is on the internet and on his street released Cd “City Streets” The Movie. 'Life in music isn’t about money when it’s in your blood,' Comments DeLigaH. Making beats, as a lot producers do, is not the way DeLigaH sees himself. He sees himself as a composer. In addition, rightfully so. Because he has no formal piano training or music production courses He is able to let the music and beats become a composition.
