Damn Near Killed_M is a four-piece band from Atlanta. The heart and soul of the band was formed seven years ago by the guitarists/vocalists, John Hand and Robert Weatherly. Each had performed extensively in college, and now back in Atlanta, the two old friends from UNC wanted to start a band again. Armed with a song list of covers and originals, they began playing at small functions across Georgia with just their guitars and a PA.
Jumping years ahead, it is now 2001. John and Robert began the search for a full band. Grueling searches lead them to Joe Schewe on bass. A native of Detroit Michigan, Joe has played in a variety of bands thoughout his career. Joe’s low-key approach, with incredible technical ability allows him to add to every song. The last addition was Mike Madden on Drums. Mike has trekked across the country to be in Atlanta. From Tacoma WA, he later moved to Colorado Springs and then Boston playing in an array of bands out there.
Other than getting exposure through live gigs, the band is determined to cut an album and have a CD release party before the holidays get here this year(2002). This has been a long time goal for all of the members, and now they all feel it can come to fruition. The final touches on songs are being made, and a few new songs are being drawn up to meet this goal. A slow transition from covers to originals will be a continuous evolution for the band and its fans, but never loosing the focus of keeping people dancing all night long.
DNK_M would like to mainly play the Fraternity and Sorority house scene in GA. Born and bread from a party band beginning, they all enjoy feeding off the crowd of college students. Consciously choosing songs that keep the beat going all night long, their set list is ever expanding to include new covers and originals that keep a crowd at their attention all night long.
