Despite being a fairly new band, members of Dirty Maria have wasted no time in establishing themselves as Toronto's newest addition to Latin rock. In less than 4 months, Dirty Maria's unique brand of high-energy Latin Alternative sound has exploded onto the Toronto music scene. The 4 members of Dirty Maria, like Toronto, represent a hybrid mix of cultures: Panama, Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. With each member having a distinct musical background, Dirty Maria finds its strength in its original sound: all members agree that despite their different backgrounds, their goal is to bring Latin rock to the public with high-energy sound and lyrics in Spanish and English. And in a short time, Dirty Maria has been getting the public's attention: this year, the band participated in the Latin American Music Conference and won first place in the conference's 2004 Battle of the Bands. Recently, Dirty Maria have participated in several Toronto benefit concerts and events and most recently were part of the new series for OMNI 2 called Metropia, which will premiere in late October. Dirty Maria are preparing to record their first CD.

Kevin Matadrums and percussionOriginally from Panama, Kevin has over 12 years of experience working with international artists in over 20 latin collaborations. Since moving to Canada, he has participated in numerous Canadian shows and productions which reflect his versatile range of musical styles including salsa, rock and jazz rhythms. Marino Ojedabass guitarBorn in Canada and raised in Argentina, Marino spent the better part of his childhood learning to play drums, guitar, keys, and bass guitar. From 1995-97, he traveled and performed with a Christian musical group. Later, moving to Miami, he was able to tour internationally and recorded for many well-known artists. After his extensive travels, he has finally found his home in T.O. among the members of Dirty Maria.Alex Berbenlead guitar, background vocalsOriginally from Cartagena, Colombia, his passion for music lead Alex to pursue a musical career from an early age. Alex's versatility includes a knowledge of music encompassing a wide range of styles from salsa, jazz, blues to classical. Considered an accomplished musician and songwriter, Alex has dedicated several years to musical education as an instructor of piano, guitar and bass guitar.Saul Torreslead vocalsBorn in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Saul has had many years of experience as frontman for several Spanish rock bands in Mexico. He has travelled across the country, playing numerous locales in Mexico City, Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta . He has spent several years in Toronto, where he has continued to pursue his interest in bringing 'latin rock' to the Canadian public.
