D.J. Lauria Band
Band Biography

  • From: Providence, RI
  • No. of Members: 3
  • Years Together: 6

D.J. Lauria - Guitar, Keys, Vocals. A smoking guitarist with a lyrical touch, Lauria has played with such notables as Elliot Easton (The Cars,) John Cafferty, Rob Afuso (Skid Row,) and bluesmen Professor Harp and James Montgomery. He is a gifted songwriter whose 'Time That I Forgot' was a winner in Billboard's 1995 Song Contest. Scott Pazur (Internet Music Review Service) 'the prize here is 'Time That I Forgot,' a modern pop ditty along the lines of Gin Blossoms or Marshall Crenshaw...' Lori Powers (Eternal Jam Magazine) 'Lauria is a talented musician and gifted songwriter.'

John Andrade, Jr. - Drums. Former member of Geffen recording artists The Cool Fools, who toured with the reunited Guess Who. A pounding, yet subtle timekeeper who is in demand as a songwriter in his own right. (Andrade's 'Happy Christmas, Baby,' was recently included on the Portland Songwriter's Association CD of the year's ten best new songs.)

John Sundström - Bass. Worked with The Shake, Robin Lane and the Chartbusters, Proj-X, and Tag Trio. A prolific Vegas sideman and session player in the early 90's, multi-instrumentalist Sundström returned to New England to complete the band's lineup and join their 'Barn Owl' tour in progress. He and Andrade have been a rock-solid rhythm section for over 10 years.

The band has released a seven-song CD entitled 'Satellite Pictures,' a collection of their most recent singles which was recorded at Lakewest Studios in West Greenwich, RI. They showcased at the 1997 Philadelphia Music Conference. They have been profiled as TDK's 'Unsigned Band of the Month' (September 1996) and featured by r a w online. The web's international reach has made it possible for the band to be added to playlists in Japan, China, Thailand, Belgium, Great Britain and Yugoslavia, in addition to stations all over the US and Canada. Andy Smith (Providence Journal) 'Supercharged pop is [this] power trio's forte.' Music Scene Online This band relies on their musical talents to push them across the threshold of banal into the realm of 90's pop rock. Sneak attack - watch out for this band. Check out 'Top Cat' and 'Day Before We Met' if you want to be wowed! D.J. Lauria Band has opened for Robert Cray, J. Geils, Ian Hunter, Molly Hatchet, Duke Robillard, Debbie Davies and many others. They have been touring New England and the Mid-Atlantic steadily, including gigs at New York's CBGB and Lion's Den; Boston's Harper's Ferry; Portland's Old Port Tavern; Hartford's Hungry Tiger; Providence's Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel, Living Room, Met Cafe, and the Call, just to name a few cities and clubs.
