Consoling Dara is the new collaboration of four old friends. Based in Youngstown, Ohio, Jeremiah, Nick, and Steven first formed in July of 2001 under the name Galya, and began performing regularly in the Youngstown area with bassisit Andrew Carlson. Many changes have taken place since then. After a brief hiatus in 2003, Galya reformed with new bassist Justin Jolley, and entered the recording studio to lay down tracks fo rtheir first CD entitled 'Strange Idea'. The effort took place at Pendlewood Studios in Mansfield, Ohio and it was carefully produced by C.R. Pendleton.Jolley's departure for college in fall 2004 opened the door for longtime band friend and roadie Justin Prouse to step in on bass. Prouse's introduction into the fold began a chain of changes and various improvements. Those improvements included a more mature sound that ushered in new songs and more energetic, interactive live performances. All that was left was to change the name, and with that, an entirely new sound and creation was born.Over the years, the band that is now Consoling Dara has played extensively throughout Northeast and Central Ohio, as well as Western PA and West Virginia. They have been asked to play with some of Ohio's top acts, such as Blind Paradox, Lester Finn Experiment(formerly Candle Rain), and Minkus, as well as national acts like The Insyderz, Superchick, Josh Graham(of Joy Electric), and Steve Wiggins(of Big Tent Revival).CD continually seeks to combine intricate musicianship with thoughtful, precise lyrics. Each member draws influence from a wide range of artists that include U2, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Eat World, Switchfoot, Anberlin, Relient K, and the Goo Goo Dolls. So if you want a solid mixture that is something for everyone, come and see CD in your town...rock out...
