CeLange
Band Biography

  • From: New York City, NY
  • No. of Members: 4
  • Years Together: 6

CeLange is a New York City rock and roll outfit fronted by the extremly energetic and fabulous Sue Lange. Her partner Gary Celima plays a screamin' guitar and dresses better than anyone on any stage at any time. Their whammin' rhythm section is run by Clifford McComas on drums and Rick Peterson on bass.

The music of CeLange is heavily influenced by blues artists past and present such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Reed, Eric Clapton and maybe even Janis Joplin. The use of flute by Lange is an unusual addition to the band and reminds one of early Tull. They've also been described as perhaps a cross between Portishead and Violent Femmes.

The band has put out two wonderful CDs: 'New Day Comin' ' which is mostly original music, and 'Bloozers, Boozers, and Loozers.' 'New Day Comin' ' was produced by Genya Ravan of Goldie and the Gingerbreads and also Ten Wheel Drive. That CD has performances by Kenny Aaronson (Joan Jett) and Bobby Chouinard (Billy Squire).

CeLange is best live. There shows are always high energy and rockin'. They kick: no question about it.
